The mission of the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) Nursing Division is to build on a legacy of nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art and science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients, families and communities. The Graduate Resident Nurse utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice and provides direct patient care, with supervision from a registered professional nurse, to patients and families. This is an entry-level nursing position for Graduate Resident Nurses. Training, evaluation, and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader in the department. During the first year of employment, you will be enrolled in a Nurse Residency Program. Nurse Leadership will determine a balance of Clinical and Educational time.

5West is a 36 bed blended acuity unit with a clinical specialty in Cardiology and is comprised of 8 Progressive Care and 28 telemetry care beds. Driven by a vision to heal hearts without missing a beat for our patients and each other, our team provides exceptional care to patients with a variety of cardiac and pulmonary conditions. This population of patients includes acute MI, Heart Failure, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Arrhythmia management inclusive of medical and invasive procedures, Transcatheter Aortic Valve replacements, pulmonary emboli and other acute cardiac conditions.

As a designated Heart CARE Center TM, we work closely with our Cardiovascular teams and procedural areas to deliver clinical excellence in patient-centered care.

5West offers a unique Clinical Cardiology pathway for those nurses interested in progressing their career and professional growth. This pathway allows growth within the Progressive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit, Emergency Nursing and Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Labs. We prepare our nurses for a seamless transition to these areas should this be the path they choose

Job Description:

Education

· Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licensure, Certification, Registration

· Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration; graduating nursing students must provide NCLEX registration documentation when eligible.

· American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate

Experience

· 0-1 years related work experience required.

· Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Skills & Abilities

· Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.

· Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the unit-specific competencies.

· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
