Registered Nurse - Non-Invasive Cardiology / Cardiac Rehab: This position will be required to rotate between both Cardiac Rehab and Non-Invasive Stress Lab.
Stress Lab General Expectations and Duties
Provides competent compassionate nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of the nursing process
Provides direct nursing care for patients undergoing non-invasive cardiac testing in the Department.
Maintains competency in all areas of stress testing performed at Mount Auburn Hospital: exercise treadmill test, dobutamine stress test, exercise stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, and stress with nuclear imaging.
Maintains competency with application and processing of cardiac event monitors
Evaluates patient prior to test; monitors vital signs, assesses patient, and documents accordingly during test; recognizes changes in patient status and reports to physician; initiates nursing interventions according under the direction of the attending physician.
Maintains competency in radiation safety principles
Maintains competency in Stress Lab equipment, intravenous (IV) infusion pumps, bedside cardiac monitors, oxygen administration/airway equipment as needed for patient care
Collaborates with cardiologists regarding individualized patient assessments and plan of care
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Maintains competency in use of the electronic medical record
Collaborates with various departments to ensure continuity of care: Emergency Department, Cath Lab, SICU/MICU, Echo Lab, Nuclear Medicine, and general nursing floors, etc.
Performs all other duties as assigned
Cardiac Rehabilitation Department Description
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Mount Auburn Hospital is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The department offers comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation services to patients in the community. The staff is comprised of a mixture of registered nurses and exercise physiologists.
Cardiac Rehab Expectations and Duties
Provides competent compassionate patient care based on scientific principles
Provides monitoring and/or nursing care for patients during cardiac rehabilitation
Maintains competency in all areas of cardiac rehabilitation offered at Mount Auburn Hospital.
Maintains competency with application and use of cardiac monitors
Maintains competency in cardiac rehab fitness/gym equipment
Collaborates with exercise physiologists and attending physicians when appropriate for individualized plan of care
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Maintains competency in use of the electronic medical record
Collaborates with various departments to ensure continuity of cardiac care
Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
Graduate of accredited school of nursing required
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
Currently licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required
Current BLS required
Current ACLS required
Available for flexible dayshifts (Monday-Saturday) per department needs
Strong cardiology background required
Minimum 2-3 years of cardiac nursing experience required (see below)
Previous Cardiac Rehab, Stress Lab, Cath Lab, or Cardiac ICU experience highly preferred
