Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care in accordance with current standards of nursing care, consistent with the plan of care, following established policies and procedures, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
Performs basic technical procedures according to established standards accurately and efficiently (i.e. point of care testing). Reporting all findings to the RN. Able to recognize and report all urgent data.
Collects and reports routine patient data accurately and efficiently. (i.e. vital signs, height, weight, intake, output, specimens)
Maintains unit Par Levels of supplies, checking for outdates, ordering needed supplies in a proactive manner with consideration given to cost, supply, demand and frequency of use.
Performs basic Administrative tasks i.e.- answering the phone, schedule appointments, break down charts (if applicable), faxing, etc
Assists other members of the health care team in providing care or assistance with specific procedures as directed by the RN.
Recognizes and reports urgent and appropriate patient changes/ issues including response to pain management in a timely manner to solve problems or prevent further complications.
Assists health care team members in an emergency. Following directions, locating emergency equipment or assisting in providing care to other patients as needed.
Adheres to Patient Care Services Policies and Procedures
24 hours per week
M-F, no weekends
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Medical Office experience preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. BLS required.
